From an extensive bank of images cut from newspaper colour supplements, film still archives and illustrated books on classical mythology, Whiteley selects moments of hesitation and ambiguity portrayed in her paintings. Flora Whiteley was born in 1977 in Oxford. She completed her MA Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2008. Flora has studied in Newcastle and at the Atélier Contrepoint in Paris where she did an apprenticeship in Printmaking. She currently lives and works in London.
