nina fowler
Nina graduated from Brighton University in 2003 with a degree in sculpture. Since then she has been developing a body of work exploring the interdisciplinary potential of working across the mediums of fine art. Her practice engages traditional methods of printmaking, drawing, sculpture and photography, all of which are combined to challenge and compliment one another. The underlying theme, which runs throughout the work, is desire. Sometimes simply in the form of the impossible yearnings that exist between the icon and the fanatic, whilst at other times asking her viewer to question more deeply the intense self-deceptive seduction of our idols. Nina has recently started exhibiting in London after working principally on private commissions. Recent group shows include Don’t Stop Me Now – The Body Beyond Death, Trolley Gallery (2008) and the BP Portrait Award 2008 at the National Gallery. She has work on permanent display at The Colony Room Club, London and currently works as assistant and archivist to John Dunbar (former owner of the Indica Gallery.
