Whitecross Gallery opened in October 2006. A contemporary art space on the historic EC1 market street of the same name, Whitecross Gallery is neatly placed between the Barbican and Old Street. Director Francesco Petillo opened the gallery in the spirit of the streets former occupants, a community of tinkers and peddlers who sold their wares outside the City walls. At Whitecross Gallery he promotes work of both emerging and established contemporary artists and holds between six and nine annual exhibitions.
